BDD: What does it take to be matchmaker?

To be a matchmaker, one needs to be extremely attentive to detail, a great communicator, and a impeccable listener. Most importantly you must have a keen sense of people and their needs!

BDD: How can I tell if I need a matchmaker?

People often utilize my services when they start to make a habit of choosing the wrong people for themselves. It’s also common for men and women to seek out the services when they do not have the time to be active in the dating scene. They hire me to do the editing for them!

BDD: How do you help your clients, what’s unique about your approach?

I help my clients in any way that I can. My approach is to give my clients my full attention at all times. I will always be honest, dedicated and relentless throughout the entire process, which results in my outstanding success.

BDD: How would you convince a skeptic to reach out to a matchmaker?

Any skeptic that I’ve come in contact with over the years, spends no more than 5 minutes with me, and their worries and hesitations are gone! They know I’m the real deal!

BDD: Can you give us an example of a success story?

Too many to count! I’ve had 21 years of success, and hundreds of men and women now living happily together!

BDD: Would you ever turn anyone down? Why? Why not?

It’s rare that I do turn down a potential client, but it has happen before. The only reason I would chose to do so, would be because he isn’t realistic with his expectations. I’m not a dating service, I’m a matchmaker, so I refuse to take on anyone that tries to take advantage of my hard work in an unproductive manner.

BDD: What is the most common trouble with which people come to you?

For the most part, I find that a lot of men and women come to me tainted by the dating world. They have this misconception that all of the “good ones” are taken. If that were the case, I wouldn’t still be in business!

BDD: What’s the most valuable piece of advice you can give that applies to all?

As I always say to my clients, you have to treat the dating process like a job. If you are out of a job, what do you do? You get out there and start applying, do whatever you can to get back into the “game!” Treat the single dating scene just the same. Make yourself available, and continue to work towards your goal!

BDD: What is the number one mistake that you people make looking for their match?

The number one mistake people make would be that they start the process with unrealistic expectations. If one goes into the dating scene with this attitude, the outcome can be frustrating and disheartening.

BDD: What’s your take on online dating?

I fully support online dating and always have. Online dating is simply an additional avenue for meeting people. Recently, I’ve launched my version of an online dating site called 2lovetoday. It’s a unique version of online dating that combines with personal matchmaking. My team is very excited about our new launch, and we’re expecting great success!

Matchmakers low risk and high reward.

This weekend, I was observing the behavior of single people walking their dogs. Since the season for bathing on the beach is over, the leash law was not in play.

So, the dogs were running around mingling with each other. They were interacting in a very free environment as they were having fun.

However, the owners of the dogs were not. I did not see one single owner engaged in a conversation with each other. Why not?

Maybe the dogs are less shy, don't really care if they get rejected, or thats their nature.

As a matchmaker, I was thinking if only some of the women went up to the guys and began a conversation. All they had to do is use one of my proven matchmaking lines listed in my books.

These type of men know a lot about travelling, politics, food, wine, and sports but are they marriage material? Absolutely not. They are lifelong bachelors.

Situation #1
You go on a few dates with a guy and think he is great. You think he is boyfriend potential and can’t wait to see him again. A few days passes and you haven’t heard from him. What happened? Well, he probably does the same thing to a million girls because he’s a serial dater!

Situation #2:
He talks about his work all the time. You go on a few dates but you can’t seem to find out any important details about him. You have no idea where he is from or anything about his family. He doesn’t give you details about himself, but he’ll share any information about his job. Why is he like this? Because he’s a serial dater and doesn’t want you to get to know him!

Situation #3:

Matchmaking Logical Things to Eat on a Date

First date food choices are tricky. At least I think so. I’m a very picky and boring eater, so restaurants with interesting menus don’t appeal to me. Put a piece of grilled chicken on a plate with some sautéed veggies, and I’m happy. This week my Matchmaker mom gave me the task of coming up with a menu of what not to eat on a first date. I gave it some thought and came up with 4 top choices.

Food #1: Salad

Rule #1 of dating – don’t ever order a salad. There are very few guys that like to date a girl with eating issues, and ordering a salad as your meal sends the wrong signals. My dating coach says that men are attracted to women who like to eat, and I agree. An appetite is sexy. A guy wouldn’t ask you to join him for dinner if he wanted to watch you order something extremely healthy. When your date reflects on your time together, you don’t want him to remember you as “the girl who ordered a salad.”

Food #2: Spaghetti

I personally love pasta. I think it’s delicious and a safe choice price wise. You don’t want to order something too expensive, and pasta is usually priced just right. However, there’s a big difference between pasta and spaghetti. Pasta, such as penne, can be eaten politely and perhaps with some sex appeal. Spaghetti on the other hand, makes a mess regardless of how you eat it. Even if you use a spoon to twirl the spaghetti, it can still splatter all over you. You want to turn your date on, not have him think you’re a slob.

Food #3: Chicken Wings

Recently, barbecue restaurants have become pretty popular. I’m not sure how many first dates would end up at a barbecue restaurant, but just in case, stay away from the chicken wings. You might think it’s sexy to eat with your hands and get all messy, but it’s not. No guy wants to look at a girl with sauce all over her face, unless of course it’s his “special sauce.”

Food #4: Spinach and leafy greens

On a date it’s wise to stay away from all greens. Greens are in the same category as beans. Eat them by yourself or with a girlfriend, but don’t ever order them on a date. Spinach in particular is tricky because it can get stuck in your teeth. Nothing would be more embarrassing than to have food stuck in your teeth on a first date. When you flash your signature smile, you want your date to see your pearly whites, not a chunk of spinach. After all, you don’t want to be known as the girl who had food stuck in her teeth all night.

Dating Tips: Things I Can Live Without

This section of Janis Spindel’s dating advice course was really hard for me because I don’t like to give anything up. The top 3 things I can live without are: taking taxi’s, going out to dinner during the week, and seeing movies in theaters. In an effort to make a social budget for myself, I had to cut back on some costs to allow money for my new beauty budget. If I only take taxi’s Friday and Saturday nights, go out to dinner only on the weekends, and stop seeing movies in the theater, I will save a lot of money! This course is all about prioritizing, and lets face it, it is much more important to make sure my hair and nails look great than to take a cab. The subway is a great place to meet people – and with my hair and nails in perfect shape I’m sure to feel very approachable.

It's Friday, December 18th, 2009 and I feel like a Mack truck just hit me because I just hit about 25 bars, hotels and restaurants. Took one of my students out to show her how to meet a successful, marriage-minded man in an upscale professional place and boy oh boy oh boy did we boogie!

First, we started off in New York City at a restaurant called TAO ... that was a complete mob scene... a little too crowded, (not the right crowd )- we were in and out of there!

Then we went next door to The Four Seasons Hotel, to the famous bar 57/57- then we were in and out of there and off we went to Cipriani's at the Sherry Netherlands Hotel on 5th Avenue- in and out of there. Then we went to La Caprice- the famous club from the UK at the Pierre Hotel in New York City. Then we went to the Plaza Hotel to the famous Oak Room bar. Then we went to BLT steak- a great place to meet men- every time I've gone there the bar has been packed.(not this time??) Then we started getting hungry and so we went to Geisha- great great restaurant, every time I've been there, I've gotten somebody married that I met through somebody that I met at Geisha. So we sit down and the place is not that crowded- we were going to have dinner.

I of course start a conversation with the couple to the left of us- a blonde and of course an older man and they're not married and he goes back and forth to Arizona and she lives in New
York. I'm with again one of my students and we start a conversation about the fact that she's single and I say to him, "So, do you have any single guys for her?" and he says no and about ten minutes later he proceeds to say, (he taps her on the shoulder,) and he says, "I have a guy for you!" and he starts describing this divorced 46 year old Jewish fellow who has no children but wants them, who is very bright, very funny, very successful, lives in Manhattan and he really sounds perfect for her. I got the chills from my head to my toes- they went right through my body- she is going to marry this man Bruce. I'm telling you she is going to meet this man Bruce and I'm going to take credit for it.!! And we sat there talking to them for awhile and then a couple down at the other end of the restaurant because the room was not crowded yet heard the conversation and heard what I did so then I started a conversation with them. They knew who I was- the girl came over and said, "You're a celebrity- I know who you are. All of my friends came to you."

Gave her a card, then the couple to the right said what are we missing out on. Who are you? She was from Paris, he was from Scottland- absolutely unbelievable, gave them a card. Now we're going to wait for this guy Bruce to call her- hopefully it will be within 24 to 48 hours, but if not I already have a game plan- we did get their card so we can follow up plus I got his name I can google him and find him and track him down.!!

And then the adventure started... we left Geisha and went next door to Serafina, then we went over to the Regency Hotel- we were in and out of there. Then we went to David Burke and Donatella town house- in and out of there, then we went to David Burke fishtail- we were in and out of there. Then we decided to walk over to 3rd avenue to Atlantic Grill- the place was packed solid- didn't see anybody that we liked there so we left. Then we went to 1st avenue to Campagnolla- that place was packed, but we didn't see anybody there. Then we walked over to Elio's on 2nd avenue- very upscale restaurant that has extremely good looking, successful people- I bumped into two men that I knew, met another guy there. Then we walked over to Elaine's. Then she petered out on me- I didn't peter out on her and she said, "I can't believe this, but my feet are killing me and we are going to call it a night." So four hours later, up up up upscale places, the place to meet successful marriage minded men. You have to be out there, you don't know unless you're out there. Not every night can be a winner, but if she ends up marrying this guy Bruce, it will all work out.

Shop for Your Brother
Another great place to meet men is in the men’s section of upscale department stores. Places like Bergdorf’s for men, Barney’s, and Saks Fifth Avenue sell beautiful men’s clothing. Shop for your dad, brother, cousin or best male friend! Ask for advice from a guy in the store that you want to meet. What a great excuse to talk to him and get his opinion.

The GPS
Even if you know where you’re going, ask for directions anyway! Being lost is a perfect excuse to start a conversation with any man, especially if you’re shy. What gentleman isn’t going to help a lady in distress?!

Alumni
Become alumni and attend events held by your college or university. All schools have websites where past grads can reconnect. I know several men and women who have met old classmates and either rekindled old flames or started new fires.

Share a Space
The “summer share” has been the classic New York City single’s way of escaping the city heat and hooking up with new people. If you don’t live near a beach, think lake or mountain resorts. Or, you can consider taking your two weeks in summer at a beach community and take a house with a couple of single friends. Amazing things can happen in two weeks at the beach! Every community has vacation spots that attract singles. I think the beach and resort environment break down barriers for people who might normally be less inclined to reach out to strangers.

Switch Lanes
If you commute to work on a train or bus, change the time you go as often as you can. Even if it’s just a couple minutes of a change of “scenery,” these different times will bring about new people. And if you drive, think about switching to a park-and-ride system, which will put you on a commuter bus. Change as often as you can. See who’s going where and when.

Outdoor Exercise
The same workout in the same old place may have muted your social life. As soon as the weather gets warm, take your routine outside. Running tracks are man magnets as are tennis and racquetball courts and walking paths.

No Take Out
Cancel your subscription to your paper right now and start buying it yourself along with your morning coffee. Try a different newsstand or coffee shop every week. Buy the guy in front or in back of you in line his morning paper or latte. Men really do love a woman who pays. Plus, all men are suckers for gifts. End takeout service too. Instead of dialing up unhealthy food, visit the best gourmet food shop in town, and get delicious, healthy carryout. Remember, many single men don’t like to cook and don’t always want to eat in restaurants. You’ll meet them at the takeout counter!

As an example, if you have never been married before and don't have any children and want to find a man to have children with, the only logical process you have to go through is begin to look for a mirror image of yourself.

Look at men, who have never been married before, who you can grow together with and experience with.

On the other hand, if you are older, been married before and or have children, the men appropriate for you will most likely already have been married and have children of their own. You most probably need to be open to that.

Matchmaker’s logical locations to pick up men. In this blog, you will learn the time tested secrets to meeting men while in your travels. I will give you the perfect location to where these men go. You will be flabbergasted when you see this process work for you, as I have taught others to do.

Matchmakers top places to picking up men:

The gym- the gym is a great place to meet men. They are really focused on working out with their iPods on. They might be on a machine or treadmill where you would have to go in front of them to get their attention. Men want women who take care of their bodies, who lead a healthy life style. So if you are there and he is there, he gets to see your body in full profile.

What you need to do is go up to him and try to add some humor to it. Think of a great one liner on how to pick him up. If you’re not quick minded, don’t worry. Just go up to him so he can see your face and smile at him. Say, “Hello.” Or, if you can’t do that, ask him “are you going to be much longer on the machine.”
Ask him what kind of program he does here. Your initial goal is to make him take his ear phones out of his ear and start the conversation.

If you don’t belong to a gym, the coffee shop is another great place to meet men. In a coffee shop around the world, like Starbucks, most people are rushing in the morning to get to work and business. As you are standing on line, start a conversation. Even if it is not the most creative opening line such as “wow, the weather is really beautiful outside today.” Or, you can be silly and say “what kind of latte do you drink.” You need something to get his attention if you can’t think of a line. It should be quick witted, tongue and cheek sense of humor. Smile, as your smile is your calling card, and simply say “hello.” Or, if you want to be out going, say “my name is…, what’s yours.”

You need to be confident. Confidence is the number one thing that turns on a man. If he was brought up as a gentleman, he will have a conversation with you as you begin to approach him. If he is interested at that point, he will take it to the next level.

Another logical location to meet men is at a sporting event. Sort of a nontraditional location. They are the greatest places in the world. Baseball, basketball, men are at sporting events. It’s a great way to start a conversation. You might be sitting next to him or getting a drink or food at the stand. Or maybe, you are walking around just looking for him and not paying attention to the event. Smile, say hello, and make sure he does not have on a wedding band.

Dog runs are a high percentage “meeting men” location. Take your dog to the dog run. If you don’t have a dog, borrow one. If you can’t borrow a dog, rent a dog. It’s a great place to meet a guy and great way to start a conversation. You have commonality with your dogs. Walk your dog up next to him; run up if you have to. Smile and say hello to him.
